web

and that is not all.. I think this little incident has inspired me to add a new category to my posts on this internet diary..

I had in the past treated this ‘blog’ in pretty much that fashion, as a diary that just happened to be online. A collection of stuff that I liked or made. But mostly I was rather reticent about just linking to other just out there in interland. I was wary of proliferating meme’s, reguritating links that i’d found elsewhere.

I saw this activity as somewhat pointless chasing of one’s tail. Not contributing anything new and mostly done by bloggists to demonstrate how zeitgeisty they were. how they heard about it first.. aaages before you.. and somehow that in itself made them interesting.

It is still true and that is pretty much the way most of the web works but I am softening on my self-proscription in not linking to things. Or repeating something that someone else just told me. In fact, I probably went soft sometime ago but that was drift away from an editoral policy.

Today, I am actively jettisoning that policy and creating the category ‘web‘ which i will use to joyfully leap into the rest of the web.

So expect more spam and less original material but some occasionally cool things that you hadn’t spotted before like this…

December 14th 2006: Dudes it was my 900th comic yesterday! Sort of! I think some of the numbers are missing due to problems when I moved to my database-driven backend, but we will ignore that. 900 comics! That means in 100 comics it will be 1000 comics! Will Dinosaur Comics explode when that happens? WILL YOU?? There is one way to find out. Thank you everyone for making doing these comics such an enjoyable thing to do, and also my job! It is the best job in the world and I feel awesome at parties explaining to people what I do and they don’t get how it is even possible.

of course, I get the same thing with my job.. although that’s no thanks to the internets.
