I used to want to write like Douglas Adams. But the more times I re-read him, I realised that this was, of course, impossible. It is equally impossible to write like Kurt Vonnegut but I have a harder time believing it. He makes it look so easy that, addled by adoration, you sort of assume that you could do the same. Don’t you?
