National Cinema Day
With all films half price, and a
beautiful clear blue sky, who can resist a full day in
dirty seats in a darkened room, where the sound is too
loud and the print a bit blurred?
Being an addictive personality, (it
is a great excuse for so many things) I went to have my
intelligence insulted by egomaniacs with money to burn,
in trogloditic surrounds:
The Programme:
6am - 8am: Copland
Slyvester Stallone and Robert de Niro in a gritty
drama set in New York. Unafraid to tackle real issues,
this film does not shy away from the nervous,
irregular rhythms, angular melodies, and highly
dissonant harmonies that made Copland
famous. This ambitious biopic spans sweepingly
the remarkable life of America's greatest modern
composer. Stallone takes on his most challenging
role for years in the title role.
