Polish Lentil Soup

The nights are drawing in and there is a cold, wet chill in the air that penetrates to the very marrow of our bones. Walking the autumn streets is no longer fun; our easy dawdle replaced by determined strides, hunched shoulders, pocket-thrust hands, our former smiles now grimaces. The season has passed from a bracing coolness with its colourful foilage swirling merrily in the breeze, to heartless cold and biting winds, the pavements a slick mulch of dead leaves.

I’m cold, so cold.. I can’t feel my toes, my fingers are burning. The ache is so great I cannot think straight, let me rest here a little while and I will feel better. So cold it makes me tired, i want to sleep, to lie down here in this soft snow and sleep.

What is needed here is

Polish Lentil Soup..

Heat some olive oil in a large saucepan, add..

1 teasp Cayenne pepper
2 teasp Garam Masala

Followed by
1 large onion chopped
4-6 garlic cloves chopped
2 capsicum peppers chopped
3 carrots chopped

when onions are transparent, add

1 tin chopped tomatoes
2 cups of red lentils
2 veg or chick stock cubes in 3 pints of water

bring to boil and then simmer for at least 40mins.

Makes oodles – but it is yummy and gets better with time (within reason)
