We just had our weekly journal club discussing:
Mitchell, J.P., Macrae, C.N., & Banaji, M.R. (2006) Dissociable Medial Prefrontal Contributions to Judgments of Similar and Dissimilar Others, Neuron 50, 655-663
It’s a moderately neat scanning study that purports to show different neural mechanisms for making judgments about those who are similar to us compared to those who are different. It provoked many thoughts which I won’t bore you with but it did cause me to notice that, of the 10 people in the room, 9 different nationalities were represented (Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Poland, United Kingdom, United States)
Mind you, we were all developmental psychologists!
